Please read the following instructions carefully
before downloading!
This page on our web site allows you to download either latest-version updates for existing programs or the full program for installation from scratch. Make make sure you download the correct file!
If you already have a working copy of a particular program installed on your computer then you only need to download and run the latest version update for existing copies of that particular program. In a case like this there is no need to download and re-install the entire "Installer" program - simply download and run the latest version update. Note that latest-version updates include all previous updates and that running an update will not need another authorisation number from Softbyte Computers. Re-installing a program or running an update will not interfere with any saved data.
You may select to either RUN or SAVE the file you download. You would only select to SAVE the file if you wanted to keep a permanent copy of the file you choose to download. If you choose to SAVE the file then please DO NOT save the file to your Desktop or to the folder where your WinTax, BackTax, IBCFIN programs are installed!
Downloading and installing, or re-installing, a full working copy of a program will require a new authorisation number from Softbyte Computers.
If you don't have an existing copy of a certain program installed on your computer then it is pointless downloading an update for that program. For example, the update file you can download for WinTax2010 will only update existing, installed, copies of WinTax2010 to the latest version of WinTax2010 - it will not update WinTax2009 to WinTax2010.
All our WinTax programs display the version number in the "program name" line at the top of the program screen. Check this after downloading and running an update to confirm that you now have the latest version.

Tip: It is vital that all your copies of WinTax, for a particular tax year, are the same version. To update other computers in your office running WinTax, you can download an update program into a folder on your hard drive and then copy that update program onto a remote media such as CD or memory stick etc. DO NOT save the downloaded file to your Desktop or to a folder where your WinTax, BackTax or IBCFIN programs are installed! You can even download and save the update program direct to your memory stick. The update program can then easily be transported over to other computers running WinTax and run on those computers. The update program can also be accessed, and run, over a network if desired.

Note that Windows will not allow you to replace programs with new versions of those programs while Windows has those programs open so first exit the program you want to update before running the update.
If not you will get a "Can't create output file" error message from Windows.
